Amy Brammall began her career photographing the promotional side of The Midlands music scene in the mid-noughties. Working from her illustrated ideas she experimented on the hundreds of bands that she photographed and became set builder, prop maker, painter, decorator, make up, costume and location scout rolled into one. After painting an entire room black in her rented house to accommodate the needs of a shoot, she quickly realised a career in Photography was for her. It wouldn’t be long before Amy was flying across the globe (and down the M1) photographing national and international acts with her images gracing the covers of renowned music magazines.
After some years working within the music industry Amy moved onto shooting actors and comedians and sporadically, advertisements. This period cemented her distinctive style and gained her high profile clients, which in turn led Amy to her next role at ITV as the Leeds based Head Photographer. Shooting predominately on Emmerdale and Coronation Street, Amy shot all of Emmerdale’s marketing imagery from 2012 to mid 2019 and captured thousands of episodics over her 7 year stint. From underwater photography at Pinewood Studios in London, to shooting out of helicopters capturing explosions and the poignant moments in Yorkshire.
Whilst shooting ITV’s marketing, Amy’s interest in advertising was piqued and she became increasingly interested in the role of visuals within the discipline. Amy spent the last 7 years instructing and collaborating with creative departments to help realise her concepts and is now expanding her working relationships and clientele in the freelancing world.
Amy is currently working on a personal project as a one-woman-band, incorporating her love of image creation in set building and prop making, to produce fun, narrative-led images, performing the many roles herself in its production, almost back to where she first started.
